This manuscript is one of four'-4 that have been retracted by AIP Publishing and the Editors, following an extensive investigation in line with the COPE guidelines. This investigation has uncovered evidence of manipulation of the publication and peer review processes. It is the request of AIP Publishing that readers consider these works potentially unreliable, as the manuscripts have not been through a credible peer-review process.

The editors of AlP Advances wish to retract these papers. Following publication, questions were raised regarding the manner in which the data within these papers were processed and analyzed, which the authors and AIP Publishing have been working to resolve. We have now established that several critical steps in the peer review process-namely, the return of two identical reviewer reports and letters to the editors on two different manuscripts when both reviewers were author-suggested, and author-suggested reviewers requesting revisions to add citations to unrelated works by the authors-are indicative of peer review manipulation with no justifiable explanation. No suitable response for these identical reviews was provided, and the validity of these works has now been called into question.

Specifically, the papers “Exploring the wave solutions of a nonlinear non-local fractional model for ocean waves" and "Computational and numerical simulations of the wave propagation” were reviewed by two different author-suggested reviewers. The other two retracted papers were also reviewed by one of those author-suggested reviewers, whose review comments asked for questionable additional citations. The authors maintain that the data support the validity of the papers. However, we believe that the issues with the peer review process undermine our confidence in the validity of the papers, and we therefore retract them. All authors disagree with this decision.
